DeWitt Godfrey is an American sculptor whose work explores the relationship between geometry, material, and the built environment through monumental steel installations. Working primarily with weathering steel, he transforms industrial materials into dynamic forms that evoke natural structures such as shells, spores, and cellular growth, creating sculptures that shift dramatically as viewers move around and through them.

Godfrey's practice bridges digital design, engineering, and traditional fabrication, resulting in large-scale public works that respond to both architecture and landscape. His sculptures have been commissioned and exhibited throughout the United States and internationally, and are included in the collections of institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the Brooklyn Museum.

A graduate of Yale University and the Edinburgh College of Art, where he studied as a Fulbright Scholar, Godfrey has received numerous fellowships and awards, including support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Henry Luce Foundation, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Japan Foundation. He lives and works in New York, where he continues to develop ambitious site-responsive sculptures that challenge conventional notions of mass, movement, and space.
